A Traditional Owner Business, or TOB, is a business in which a Traditional Owner has a minimum 50% ownership interest. The Argyle Participation Agreement contains commitments from Rio Tinto to TOBs in terms of contracting opportunities at Argyle diamond mine, and the Gelganyem Group works closely with Rio Tinto and TOBs to ensure that those commitments are managed and met.

There are currently over 25 TOBs, operating in diverse industries including mining, civil, surveying, tourism, pastoral, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fencing, art, cultural awareness, labour and plant hire, and land management. Many TOBs have been operating for over ten years at Argyle and in the broader Kimberley region. Their experience and connection means that the TOBs are best placed to provide services and equipment for all projects within the Kimberley, increasing Traditional Owner and local Aboriginal engagement in economic development and financial sustainability in the region.
